Studio Mugen was established in 1999 in Santa Monica, California, after I healed myself from ovarian cancer (1993–96) and came back from Kushi Institute with a level-3 certification in macrobiotic cooking and teaching.
Along with Eric Lechasseur, I designed and created “Sanae’s Garden” for the purposes of love and healing at the studio.
We used bamboo, native Californian plants and herbs, and river rocks to create a low-water, eco-friendly, sustainable garden. There, I plant trees with fruits we use in our cooking classes: plum, persimmon, orange, lemon and more.
At Studio Mugen, we have accommodated many events and cooking lectures/classes, as well as counseling, meditation,
yoga and potlucks.
